Muchas fun song writing collaboration with Seattle based singer-songwriter Ravi Mantena. This is a rough sketch of the chord sequence and melody ideas for a track called Strange As It Seems. It’s a fun track and full of bounce in the rhythm and neat little tune motifs.

Really looking forward to the final recording and release of Ravi’s song. I’ve loved helping the writing process and going through the ideas and sentiments behind the song.

This rough sketch was done with a looping pedal and then transferred to GarageBand on my iPad, using an IK Multimedia Mic, placed in front of my little desktop Yamaha THR10 amp. Simple but effective recording & so good to use my Spalt Vienna guitar.

Hard to have much more fun with your clothes on!

Here’s a link to a video, game playing with the sequence and riffs, in preparation for final recordings & to keep the ideas fresh and alive. This utilises the pad reverb sustain from a Hungry Robot Wardenclyffe effects pedal. That coupled with the sustain and close proximity tone from a Yamaha THR10ii and the wonderful pickups on my Spalt Vienna guitar (see featured image 2 above), gives ethereality a new dimension. At least in my life it does.
