Andy Brotherton – Guitars
As well as playing live and recording, I create music for film, radio, theatre, advertising and business clients. Over more than 4 decades I have been lucky to play blues in Peru along with native instruments, jazz in Russia & have sent multi-layered guitar tracks on request to Australia.
I’ve collaborated with some excellent songwriters and have played with some of the world’s top jazz musicians, including Mike Stern, Christian McBride, Ike Isaacs and Martin Taylor. I’ve performed live improvisation at the Edinburgh Festival for a one man production of Franz Kafka’s A Report to an Academy. Currently I’m working with Seattle based singer-songwriters Ravi Mantena and Casey Zednick and New Hampshire based modern jazz guitarist Mark Polakow.
Live I enjoy playing places where the audience can relax and interact with the musician, enjoying the atmosphere of the venue as well as the music. I play a mixture of covers from many styles of music, as well as originals from music I have released, which is widely available from all the usual platforms.
I also love teaching people the guitar in all styles, as well as vocals, bass, keyboards/piano, ukulele, programming, recording and song writing. I’ve mentored many now well established players, producers, teachers & sound technicians. One of whom was involved in the live sound for the Olympics in London.
My tuition publications, available through this website and on Amazon and Apple Books, include a very enjoyable collaboration with Jonathan Cooke on a Music Theory For Guitarists book.
